American filmmaker lauds Isfahan trip

Renowned American screenwriter, director, and film critic Paul Schrader, who is also a special guest of the 37th annual Fajr International Film Festival, has lauded his trip to Isfahan.

Schrader was impressed by his short trip to the Iranian city of Isfahan which is known for its Persian art and architecture.

He brought his impression to his social media page, writing “So many emotions and insights. It will take a while to sort them out.”

Schrader, who went to Isfahan before traveling to Tehran, has held a workshop on transcendental style in film at the 37th Fajr International Filmfest which is currently underway in Tehran.

His book titled “Transcendental style in film: Ozu, Bresson, Dreyer” is translated to Persian.

Schrader has directed 18 feature films. He also wrote or co-wrote screenplays for four Martin Scorsese films: ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’, and ‘Bringing Out the Dead’.
